The title is complete fail. The White Ranger was the leader, not the red one. Fools!
Actually, Red IS the leader. White is the super powered character that appears halfway through a season. That, or Green.
Red WAS the leader. By this point in the season the white ranger had become the leader, because Tommy’s character was so popular.

All the costumed portions are the original japanese shots. The american versions took those parts, recast the characters for out of costume portions, and changed the plots.
This scene does not apply since the white ranger came from a different season than the others. The white ranger came from Gosei Sentai Dairanger while the others came from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. TL:DR?

I find it funny that the black ranger was a black guy and the yellow ranger was Asian. Also, as Julian said, the stuff where you can’t see their faces is the original Japanese footage. You’ll also notice that old witch (bah, I forget her name) is greatly out of lip sync. Nowadays, kids would actually prefer the original Japanese cast and just a plain dub (or if you’re a snob like me, a sub.) It’s funny how far we’ve come with Japanese media in the west.

No, I’m pretty sure the red ranger has a job in anime voice acting now. Either that or it was a different guy. I can never figure out which ranger belongs to which version of the show.
