That cat’s owner must be an idiot – either his cat is declawed (ie traumatized), or his iPad screen is scratched to hell and back. And in any case, he actually owns an iPad, which should be enough to classify him as an idiot all by itself.
1. Declawing isn’t as horrible as everyone thinks. I’ve known a dozen cats that were declawed and none showed any signs of being traumatized. They were just as playful and full of energy as before the declawing
That’s what I thought. How sharp and hard would a cat’s claws need to be in order to scratch glass. That is, the iPad screen is glass, just like iPhone/iPod screens, isn’t it?
Oh that’s ok then. We’ll get the dog declawed and the parrot and the hamster….oh, and you too. We’ll remove your fingernails, cause after all, you can function quite well without them, can’t you. Wont be much fun though when you go to scratch behind your ear. Oh, I fogot, you can pick something up and scratch behind your ear. See? No problem. Shame a cat can’t do that. Pesky opposable thumbs ~rolls eyes~
The claws still drag a bit. My Motley has claws that are always catching on everything if I don’t keep the tips clipped off. Mac, on the other hand rarely scratches anything.
You horrible person. In return, I shall hope the ends of your fingers are cut off, so you may not scratch any high-cost useless thing that will last less then 15 years. Yes.
Seriously? De-clawing a cat isn’t taking off the tips of fingers. It would be like removing the nails off of a hand and then using a chemical to keep them from growing back, only a bit more complicated since feline claws are retractable. My mother works for a vet and has seen plenty of cats be de-clawed and be just fine, particularly if they’re indoor cats.
Yes it’s best to choose a vet that has experience with the procedure but otherwise…talk about overreacting.
And as to the removal of nails…I’ve had to have that done to one of my toenails and It hasn’t affected my life any.
you are so full of s**t. I’ve had cats my whole life n gone to at least 10 diff vets in diff states, all say declawing is inhumane and not the choice they’d make for their pet. maybe you should do ur research before you say anything. Declawing is like amputation. It’s just a fact. If you care about ur stuff sooooooo much, don’t have a pet. It’s a responsibility you take on as a pet owner. You should’t put ur animal through any unnecessary pain or procedure for your convenience is selfish and wrong. Let somebody who wont torture the animal have it and love it since its such an inconvenience to you! http://www.declawing.com/
I think the video is very cute, and it is nice that the owner of both let the kitty play the game.
But just tor the record, everyone… “De-clawing” a cat *is* 100% cutting off the first digits of their paws (“fingers”), severing bones and tendons. How do I know this?
Multiple times, I witnessed a veterinarian at a million-dollar veterinary hospital cut off cats’ toes with CLAW CLIPPERS. Dull ones at that. No nice surgical setup, no clean sharp scalpels and precision surgery. I was the “assistant” for one instance (the first one I ever saw done), and my nausea at the thought of it quickly turned to actual nausea and I left the room to vomit (I had no duties in the so-called “procedure”, anyway, since the vet held the dull scissor claw clippers she got out of the drawer in the bath area and that was the only instrument used). Hearing the crunch of bones and tendons as she sawed at them with the dull instrument and then seeing the bloody cat toe bones scattered all over the table was too much for me; I have never had that done to any of my cats, and I never will.
The pain that remains after several weeks is due to the fact that the tendons in the feet are no longer attached to anything, and so retract into the foot or even up into the leg, remaining loose. Since their paws hurt after this barbaric “procedure”, and they can no longer do their perfectly natural scratching behavior and no longer have that means of defense, de-toed cats tend to spray urine to mark territory and bite more frequently. Animals are extremely good at hiding pain, and so we humans think they have none. Use the SoftPaws claw caps, accept the situation, or give the cat to someone who will. Please.
Again, fun video. Cheers for sharing the cuteness!
Seriously? That’s a vet that should have been reported. My mother has worked for several vets (she’s a Groomer) and would never have supported such inhumane treatment. It was cutting it close that one she worked for did something similar when Neutering, though at least his tools were all properly stored and sanitized.
If I were to be able to own cats. (Being severly alergic is horrid) I would likely not de-claw them either since I would be perfecly capable of keeping their nails trimmed. I’m not saying that everyone should just go out and get it done on a lark but I am saying that there are situations where it is understandable.
Though if it is an indoor/outdoor or just outdoor cat then I would disagree with the thought of ever declawing.
Softpaws really ate great. They’re super easy and my cat can’t damage the furniture. Our main concern was that our cat would be a yr and 3 months when our son was born and we all know for any cat, but especially a young one, if it moves they MUST attack. He attacked toes and fingers through the crib bars but never left a mark cuz he had the soft paws on. Now our Son is 15 months and they both chase each other and play and my son and furniture stay Intact. I give him his lil Mani every 3 weeks. It’s a way better alternative to declawing.
Look it up. Ask a vet. You can’t just take nails off and have them never grow back. They have to cut through bone to take the whole tip off so there’s no nail area. You should really do your research before you start name calling. It’s simply a fat that that’s how it’s done. We’re not making it up.
Ty! I’ve been searching green string iPad app cats can play and found nothing! Lol! This n the cat game get my toddler n my cat going crazy.
N we use these on our cat, solves scratching problems.

I love how something as innocent as a .gif about a cat playing with an app on the iPad is getting a full-fledged flamewar on the morality of declawing. The internet is funny that way…
That guy thought it was all cute until he realised all the claw scratches all over his iPad…
Cats normally contract their claws when doing things, they only take their claws out when attacking or climbing.
It is not physically possible for keratin claws to scratch glass.
Actually, it is. Found that out when a cat scratched a window.
That cat’s owner must be an idiot – either his cat is declawed (ie traumatized), or his iPad screen is scratched to hell and back. And in any case, he actually owns an iPad, which should be enough to classify him as an idiot all by itself.
He bought the iPad just to claw it up in front of hundreds of iFanboys, obviously.
Or the cat could have those little shrink wrap thingies that vets put on cats’ claws to keep them from being able to claw the furniture.

Uploader states the screen is fine, cats’ claws aren’t that sharp

“Declawing is actually an amputation of the last joint of your cat’s “toes”.”
Hey, let’s cut off the ends of your fingers and watch you have fun!
Won’t that be so nice?
The claws still drag a bit. My Motley has claws that are always catching on everything if I don’t keep the tips clipped off. Mac, on the other hand rarely scratches anything.
Aaaaaaaaand, what is the cat doing, playful or otherwise?
That’s what I thought.
wuahahahah xD!!
That animal is doing WHAT?
what….
Seriously? It’s a digital string game for cats to play?
I’m sure the cat have more fun than anyone else with this app.
Hope the cat is declawed.

You idiot.
Declawing is exactly that – declawing.
I highly doubt that people would want to get rid of their cats’ toes, or even any part of them.
Unless you consider claws/nails as a part of your paws/toes.
Look it up. Ask a vet. You can’t just take nails off and have them never grow back. They have to cut through bone to take the whole tip off so there’s no nail area. You should really do your research before you start name calling. It’s simply a fat that that’s how it’s done. We’re not making it up.
Declawing IS cutting off the tips of its toes. Check your facts.
Or it could, you know, contract its claws like most cat should be able too?
kiss your warrenty goodbye, apple knows you failed!
That’s just too awesome. The new reason I want an iPad.
Yeah!! Does anyone know the name of that app? Seriously!
The app is called Noby Noby Boy and you can do plenty of other things with it too
Anyone who wants to watch the full vid, look up ‘iggy investigates an iPad’ on youtube.
The app is Called Noby Noby Boy if anyone wonders

Um, cat claws aren’t harder than glass, just so you know…
i thought so! lol
