The ads. Macs and WIntel computers are both tools, neither’s better than the other when you come right down to it. Mac ads (& iPod ads) always seem to be shot through with a smug superiority though, like Apple users are better than everyone else.
Myeah, Mac users who aren’t the stereotypical fanatics somehow do still end up as a stereotype. Which is unfortunate, because I only chose Mac because I actually find how it works very great, not because I thought Vista sucked. Although the first period of Vista helped, but nevertheless…Besides, almost everybody uses an Apple product (iPhone, iPod 1/2/3/4/touch/etc), so then almost everyone’d be smug bastards.

seriously though… I’ve checked for an apple and when i compared an apple computer to an equivalent PC… not only did it use pretty much the SAME PARTS, it was also priced at almost 1000$ more!! this means you could actually buy that MAC and install windows on it! LOL (since it uses the same parts)
The ONLY advantage to MAC in my opinion is if you want a VERY powerful computer… you can get a MAC with much more ram and whatnot than you can get PCs… so the only use is for graphic designing and stuff like that
Obviously you have never used a proper PC graphics workstation with Dual Quadros AND 24g of ram. And I’d like to see a Mac that can handle 3D Animation better than a PC. I have used both Macs and PC’s throughout my career and in todays world your much better off using a PC. My design department at work now uses only PC’s from graphic design, video editing, composition work and 3D Animation. We have a Mac available only for clients who only have Mac versions of project files. Macs are for people who want to look fashionable sip their frapacappacinomocchalatte while surfing the internet and updating their facebook status.

Your only valid point is the CPU swap. Swapping memory? Same process as a PC…and NO you don’t have to buy proprietary RAM like some people think.
Macs have come with right/left button mice for several years now, and have supported 3rd party multi-button mice since at least 2002.
If you’re going to try and make an argument at least try to be accurately informed. Like I said I will give you credit where credit is due, you are right about the CPU swap, but everything else is completely untrue.
Also, please explain what you mean by “when something goes wrong?” Am I to understand that “something going wrong” is a Mac-specific occurrence and that nothing ever goes wrong with PC’s? Please…

Mac at work, PC at home.
Limited functionality to me has little to do with the hardware, though it is more difficult to upgrade a Mac.
The open-source nature of Windows is what I love. It allows far more freedom to third-party developers. That’s also the reason the IBM platform became so popular. The trade off with popularity? Viruses. The reason viruses are prevalent on PCs is because they still dominate the market. If Macs become more popular, the tables will turn.
Navigate iTunes for a while for a good example of the Macintosh mindset – control everything.
and the games… lots of games that don’t work on MAC… granted many of the new games have MAC versions but if you want to play any of your old games, good luck
heck i still play Warcraft 3 from time to time lol and i doubt i could play that on a MAC

Seriously though: The only problem I have with Macs is what’s been stated before me – it’s overpriced, and (many of) the people that use Apple are so damn smug about it, thinking that it’s the best thing in the world. In the end, mac os and linux are very similar though, both being UNIX based.

If I am correct the Mac does not get viruses because the majority of computer owners use PCs. The coding for PC operating systems is different than that of the Mac. If the majority of computer owners used Macs instead of PCs, I believe Macs would get infested with viruses.
uhm, yeah. which is why *I* didn’t buy a Windows-based PC. I bought an Apple (laptop) PC -because- it’s less common and has very little virus problems. Which makes you both right.

I can’t think of any good reason to get a Mac. Windows 7 and XP Pro are both extremely stable, especially with OEM hardware. I’ve got an older IBM NetVista, honest to God, I don’t ever remember it crashing. This one, newer, slightly customized. Occasionally hangs, usually when I’m doing a bunch o’ stuff at once and starting to think Maybe I’m stressing the limit here.
When I want a change of pace and am not concerned about playing a game, I’ll boot into Linux. Very worry free, and cost free.
So — I’m supposed to spend another thousand or so for a computer that a) won’t play 99% of the games I want to play and 2) spares me the horror of having to reboot . . . once a month maybe?

This was really awesome reading everything on here, I am sorry to say this… Parallels on the MAC makes it so it can run windows 7, vista, xp etc… MAC software has more compatibility… Far as I have seen you cannot have windows run MAC software(not like u would ever need MAC software lololol FAIL) I am deff on the side of PC. I can buy 3 quad core computers, with a 25 in monitor, with a decent 200 dollar graphics card. OR OR ORRRR I can buy one MAC desktop. Whats the better deal? Lets assume the price is 2000.00. WIN
But then you can brag about buying such an expensive paper-weight.
Personally? I use a MAC with a Windows emulator that lets me use both systems on my Mac laptop. I love Mac for the design, I’m comfortable with it, and it has noticeably less problems than every single PC I’ve used. PCs always seem to come with built-in failures for me. Annoying like hell. Now, I admit that Mac DOES have limitations, but I just find ways to get around those limitations. For me, Mac is just more comfortable and functional to use, but I still like to use PCs as well. So I use both. But really, only time I use the PC is for games or… or… actually, just the games. Mac is good enough for everything else.
What annoys me is all the bawling butthurt fans on both sides yelling and throwing stuff at each others. PC works better for some people. Mac works better for some people. They’re just frigging computers with different pros and cons. The real problem is in the users. Mactards act like aristocrats or hippies with their noses in the air, and pctards act like rednecks in a whose-dong-is-longer contest. Mactards, you’re just a cheetos-muching basement dweller. Pctards, that’s not a sausage you have in your pants, that’s a tootsie roll. Now shut up and play on your computer of choice.

Played any good games lately?
Macs are s**thouse. no viruses for them cause noone makes viruses for them since they suck and noone uses them.
I have a MacBook Pro because Macs run the graphics programs I use far more smoothly than a PC ever has. I’ve got a nice, fat Windows partition on it for gaming, and when I need something small and super portable, I have a little HP netbook running Win7 — NOT an iPad or Air. And I’m in the process of building a dedicated gaming PC.
Why does it have to be one or the other? Not all Mac users are smug hipsters, y’know. Some of us have dual citizenship and can recognize that both systems have their strengths and weaknesses.
