What do you mean inertia and friction?
The place settings haven’t got any inertia- that’s what makes the trick work. And a seamless silk tablecloth without edging can be pretty close to frictionless.
Actually not quite correct.
If horizontal is 0° and straight down is 90°, then it works if 0°<X<90°, with X being the angle you're using to pull.
Hmm… now that I think about it, since it's a table, you could probably get it to work with 180° aswell, though that would be around a corner and wouldn't really count, since it'd just be 90° twice.
Well, whatever. Point is, you can do it as long as you're not pulling it upwards even by the slightest margin.
[There's no difference when pulling it downwards, since the blanket on the table will always move horizontally.]
first time i saw the video it was reeaaallly slow to load so i was reading the comments, which were like “hmmm i think it’s fake because…” or “no I think it’s real because” and so i thought it would be hard to see if it was fake or not. then I saw this which is so ridiculously fake (and kind of gay) so it made laugh quite a bit
I’m sure this motorbike is very powerful, and I think the ad is really good, but there is no way you can take it seriously.
In the full version it starts with the guy on the side doing the real trick and it’s really cool
I think regarding what someone previous said that it is fake, because you can see the plastic cover over the tablecloth move with the dishes when the tablecloth is pulled.
Woot First
And my first first too!
I love tablecloths!
mythbusters proved this fake,
fake
there is a plastic plate between the tableware and the tablecloth
….is this real? O_O
fake and gay
And the flowers are still standing!
+1 for awesome Ghostbusters quote!
:O
No one better say this is fake! this just to awesome to be fake. If you do “claim” this, I will back trace the internet and I will find you!
its fake, due to inertia and friction, a tablecloth of that kind would definately NOT ever do that, no matter what speed it wouldnt work

An object at rest tends to stay at rest.
Sorry kids, it’s fake. You pull straight down for the actual trick; if you pull sideways at all, everything falls down.

You’ve set us all straight with your mastery of inequalities. We are in your debt, sir!
boring magic
Who gives a crap about if it’s fake or how it’s done? It’s obviously been done for the visual effect which works wonderfully. So shut up.
YOU shut up. Ooohhhhh!
And I would assume you’d have to pull much faster than that, no? a bike can’t really match the kind of acceleration a hand creates.
that’s what she said
I’ve seen this on TV, it was in a German TV-Show about a year ago. They also played DOMINO with CARS in this hall.

newtons first law of inertia this is true duh

fake and gay! the dishes always nudge slightly when someone does that!
BMW S1000RR, 193 horsepower, 200 horsepower at race speeds. That’s one badass bike…
Finally, someone who actually mentions the bike. I think we might be the only ones here who know what it is.
Damn

Proven by a Belgian Program called ‘Volt’ that this isn’t possible at all with just a table cloth!
Physics. F**k Yeah!
Ahahaha! They busted that on mythbusters last night! >:D
