Definitely not from the BBC production, the Triffids in those were entirely CGI except for a couple of tendril close-ups

And this is why practical effects are usually a better choice than CGI. If that was computer generated it wouldn’t be half as creepy as it is.
As a matter of a fact it is an animatronic gilmed on blue screen, not CGI.
Which is exactly what I said. A CGI tree wouldn’t be creepy.
